Ariana Madix Was Never Going to Go Back to ‘Pump Rules’ for Season 12
Bravo fans might be devastated by Bravo’s decision to reboot Vanderpump Rules for season 12, with a brand-new cast of SURvers, but for star Ariana Madix, it’s really the best case scenario. In a new interview, Ariana revealed she never planned to return to Pump Rules after season 11, reboot or not.
“I don’t think I was ever going back to Vanderpump Rules,” Ariana told People. “That’s the first time I’ve ever said that publicly, but I was never going to.” And it wasn’t just because her personal life had just imploded on national television. (Remember when Scandoval rocked the nation? Yeah, she’d rather not.)
“It just didn’t feel right. Not in any sort of rude way, not in a professional ‘We don’t need this,’ not in a ‘I’m too good for this,’ but it just didn’t feel right,” she said. “If I did go back, I wouldn’t have been able to do the job that would have make a good show. And so it just wasn’t going to make sense; the story didn’t make sense.”
After 11 seasons, it’s fair to say that Ariana has lived enough of her life on reality television. So don’t expect her to jump back into being a main character on TV anytime soon. “I was never really made for reality TV,” she said, noting that she “got in her head” a lot and worried she was too “boring” to be a reality star.
She continued, saying that being on a show like Pump Rules was “not a setting that really allows me to be myself. And when you’re not being yourself, you get yourself into situations where you’re saying or doing things that you don’t really back or believe in.”
All things considered, some might expect Ariana to abandon the medium altogether, but she’s not letting her past experience keep her from future opportunities. Ariana will return to reality TV to host the upcoming season of Love Island USA. There, she’ll be watching other people get messy on TV, and we’ll be right there with her.
