From The Archive: WWD’s 2011 Look Back at Decades of Iconic Bridal Moments
Wedding season officially begins in April, and WWD has covered many bridal moments over the years. From royal weddings to celebrity nuptials, and the society influencers and designers whose wedding day often made the front page. On April 25, 2011, WWD’s Style section included a five-page archival look-back titled ‘”Aisle Style,” documenting decades of historic wedding day coverage from the daily. Much of the candid coverage, enough to inspire any bride-to-be, was only seen in WWD. The cover featured model-turned-actress Margaux Hemingway, whose wedding day made headlines in 1975. To inspire wedding day bliss, the coverage culminated with an interview with Vera Wang, queen of the wedding dress. Wang, offering WWD’s reader’s noteworthy advice on what to do when saying “I do,” emphasized the importance of black and white photography for chic and timeless memories.
