Apple Music 100 Best Albums list sees Drake, Outkast, U2 in top half with entries 50-41

The second half of Apple Music's 100 Best Albums of all-time list kicks off as the tech giant released entries 50-41 Saturday.

Multiple tentpole artists make their first entry into the list, including U2, Stevie Wonder and Bob Marley and the Wailers.

In comments to USA TODAY, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member and list contributor Nile Rodgers said that Wonder, along with The Beatles, Led Zeppelin and David Bowie had album runs that demonstrated a mastery of the form.

"There are many great albums but the quality these three or four artists delivered was remarkable," Rodgers shared.

What is the Apple 100 Best Albums list?

Apple said in a press release that the list was chosen by a committee that included artists, Apple Music employees and industry insiders and that it is a "love letter to the records that have shaped the world we live and listen in." The tech giant said that it did not factor in streaming statistics when compiling the list.

Apple Music will release new album rankings every day for the next five days. Albums 40 to 31 are set to be released Sunday at 12 p.m. ET. Rodgers will take part in a roundtable discussion with Maggie Rogers, Zane Lowe, Apple Music’s global creative director, and radio personality Ebro Darden when the top 10 are revealed on May 22.

Apple has a website to help fans keep track of the countdown and has produced shoulder content on Apple Music Radio.
