As If Masculinity Couldn't Be More Fragile Right Now, Men Are Now Shaving Off Their Eyelashes To Appear "Less Feminine"

Welp, in today's "What the heck is happening in the world now??" news, men are reportedly shaving off their eyelashes in an apparent effort to appear more "masculine."

It all started with a viral TikTok video — now at over 36 million views — claiming that there's a new trend where "toxic masculine men" shave their eyelashes off to appear less "feminine."

In the video, a barber takes a hair clipper THIS close to this man's EYEBALL to shave his eyelashes down.

Then, there was this video where the barber performs a similar operation.

And then...there was this clip...with SCISSORS.

Honestly, I can't tell if these barbers and men are just trolling at this point, but the internet is not amused. "That's so embarrassing," one person commented.

"….are straight men okay?" someone asked after the clips were cross-posted to X.

Many were baffled as to why men would willingly get rid of one of their most attractive features.

And others pointed out that eyelashes serve a purpose other than aesthetics, yanno, like protecting your eyeballs from dirt and debris.

Whether this is an actual trend or just rage bait still remains to be seen. This barber who filmed this video of himself trimming a client’s eyelashes told BuzzFeed that only one person had ever requested it. When he polled his clients on Instagram, 98% said they wouldn't try it.

Anyway...if this is real, I’ve never seen masculinity this fragile — but at this moment in time, nothing surprises me.

But hey — what do you think? Have you seen this trend? Would you shave your eyelashes in the name of masculinity? LMK!
