The Princess Diaries fans could soon be keeping up with Mia Thermopolis because a third film might be heading to cinemas real soon.
It’s been 15 years since we saw Mia getting to grips with her life as royal in Genovia, and Anne Hathaway has got all our hearts racing after she admitted she is working with the film’s producer to develop a potential sequel.
The actress spilled the deets after a fan called into the Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen to pick her brains about rumours of a follow-up film.
“I want to do it. [Julie] Andrews wants to do it. Debra Martin Chase, our producer, want to do it,” Anne revealed. “We all really want it to happen.
She then added: “It’s just [that] we don’t want to unless it’s perfect because we love it just as much as you guys love it.
“It’s as important to us as it is to you, and we don’t want to deliver anything until it’s ready, but we’re working on it.”
The world fell in love with Princess Amelia Mignonette Thermopolis Renaldi in 2001 when the popular Meg Cabot books were brought to life on the big screen.
The sequel, released in 2004, ended with Mia becoming queen so perhaps the film could follow Mia as she struggles to juggle family life and ruling a kingdom?
Maybe they’ll even take some storyline inspiration from the likes of Queen Mary, Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle!
All we know is that we’ll have our fingers crossed that they manage to come up with the perfect next chapter for Mia and her gang.
