In addition to his Grand Slam titles, Andy Murray also holds the title of dad.

The tennis star shares three daughters, Sophia, Edie and a third daughter whose name has not been confirmed, and one son, Teddy, with his wife, Kim Murray. The couple welcomed their first child, Sophia, in 2016 and their second, Edie, followed the year after. Teddy was born in 2019 and their youngest was welcomed in 2021.

For Andy, being a good father is “more important than winning."

“It is always something I wanted,” he told The Mail on Sunday in 2016. “I always wanted to start a family. I always wanted to have a successful marriage and meet the right person. Since a young age, actually.”

Andy added that becoming a parent was “life-changing” and noted, “if it helps my tennis, great. And if it doesn’t, that’s fine. That’s not a problem for me now. My priority is to be a good father first. Obviously, I still want to do well in my job. I still work hard and train hard but my priority is to be a good parent.”

Despite being a serious player on the court, Andy loves to have fun with his kids. The two-time Wimbledon champion has taken his family to Walt Disney World and dressed up in a tiara and kilt for his daughters.

After losing in the first round of the Australian Open in 2024, Andy shared on Instagram that one of the advantages was “getting to play Harry Potter dress up at 5.30am on a Sunday with my daughters.”

Here is everything to know about Andy Murray’s children: Sophia, Edie, Teddy and a third daughter.

Andy and Kim welcomed their first child, Sophia, on Feb. 7, 2016.

Discussing his daughter’s birth with The Mail on Sunday, Andy revealed that the baby was born at one in the morning and that his mother-in-law was there. The tennis star also recalled being alone with his baby girl at the hospital for the first time, revealing that he started to get emotional as he held her.

“There was no one to help and I was responsible for her,” he said. “The people were great in the hospital but I was really looking forward to getting home because it was something I had always wanted. I saw it as a big challenge.”

Months after Sophia was born, Andy won his second Wimbledon title. Chatting with Prince William after the match, the British royal told the tennis champion, “Congratulations, I don’t know how you manage it with no sleep.” Andy admitted to the prince that the “first three months were tough,” but Sophia, then 5 months old, was “great” and “actually sleeping.”

The athlete revealed to This Morning's Alison Hammond in 2021 that Sophia was already playing tennis. Andy said, per the Daily Mail, “My eldest daughter plays [tennis] once a week and if she wanted to I'd be happy but at their ages it's important to be doing stuff with their friends.”

Sophia has also seen her famous dad in action. Andy’s firstborn was in the stands when he won the 2023 Rothesay Open Nottingham and at Wimbledon for her dad’s final match in July 2024.

Andy and Kim’s family grew in 2017 with the arrival of their second daughter, Edie.

The BBC reported in November of that year that the pair's second child had been born in England a "couple of weeks ago.” Andy's grandmother, Shirley Erskine, told the outlet that the newborn was “a little playmate for Sophia, who I'm sure will be equally thrilled."

Edie attended her dad’s final Wimbledon match on July 4, 2024, along with her big sister Sophia. Kim sat between her two older girls as they watched Andy and his brother Jamie Murray compete in the men’s doubles. In a press conference after the match, Andy revealed that he didn’t know his daughters were coming to the match.

“It was nice they managed to make it. Although I think my ... second kid was struggling,” he said, laughing. “It was way past her bedtime. But yeah, it was lovely that they were able to come and watch.”

Andy and Kim welcomed their only son, Teddy, in the fall of 2019.

In early November of that year, the tennis player’s mom, Judy Murray, shared on BBC Scotland's Mornings with Kaye Adams that the "lovely, happy, healthy baby boy" was born "a few days ago" in London.

Andy revealed at the launch of his clothing brand AMC that his wife chose their son’s name, Teddy, while the baby’s middle name, Baron, has a family connection.

Andy confessed, per HELLO!, “I don't actually love the name, but my dad's middle name was Baron, his dad was Baron, my grandad's dad too, so I kept that."

PEOPLE confirmed in March 2021 that Andy and Kim had welcomed their fourth child amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Andy has said in the past that his wife wanted four kids. “She always wanted a big family,” he said of Kim in a 2021 interview with The Times. “But it's all done now.”

Two years later, the tennis champion posted on his Instagram Stories a drawing of Santa that he had done, which his then-2-year-old hilariously “ruined.”

“My finest Christmas drawing ruined by 2 year old daughter who wanted Santa to be 'Doing a wee wee,’ ” he wrote on the image of Santa urinating. Andy added, “Santa appears to be extremely dehydrated [orange emoji]."
