Yahoo Lifestyle Andrew Garfield denies “Spider-Man 4” casting rumors, but knows 'no one's gonna trust anything I say'
He said he wouldn't be in the last one, but he was.

Andrew Garfield in DecemberAndrew Garfield swears up and down that audiences won't see him in Spider-Man 4. Really.
When asked about rumors that he's already signed on to the latest installment of the blockbuster franchise, Garfield was clear.
"I'm gonna disappoint you," he told British GQ in a story published Thursday. "Yeah, no. But I know no one's gonna trust anything I say from now on."
Garfield, of course, said more than once that he would not be in the 2021 live-action Spidey adventure Spider-Man: No Way Home, but he turned up just the same. There he was in a fun scene that brought together several actors who had played the webslinger: Garfield and Tobey Maguire, as well as the latest star, Tom Holland. Even Holland denied it.
In January 2022, Garfield confessed to Ellen DeGeneres on The Ellen DeGeneres Show that he had only shared the truth with a handful of confidants, including his agent.
"I lied to people for a good two years and I lied to the internet for two years, and it felt great," Garfield said. "My dad, my brother, and my mother ... just kind of us. It was fun to keep it a secret."
To him, it was as if he was "organizing a surprise birthday party for a bunch of people who I knew would appreciate it."
He even kept his cameo from his Spider-Man costar and ex Emma Stone — the Mary Jane Watson to his Peter Parker — which she was unhappy about.

"Emma kept on texting me," he said on Josh Horowitz's Happy, Sad, Confused podcast. "She was like, 'Are you in this new Spider-Man film?' And I was like, 'I don't know what you're talking about.' I kept it going, even with her."
Garfield has previously said that he was initially frightened by the fame he received for playing the famous character in 2012's The Amazing Spider-Man and 2014's The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

"I know I'm not ready for this level of scrutiny,'" Garfield said he thought at the time, "so 'I'm gonna grow a really horrible beard, and I'm gonna wear really f---ed up clothes, and I'm gonna, I'm gonna chase down paparazzi and try and talk to them.'"
Still, the Hacksaw Ridge star said he's open to joining another franchise.
"If it felt in line with my soul and was gonna be fun," said Garfield, 41. "Maybe I'm gonna have like five kids at some point, and I'm gonna need to start saving up for the school tuition or something."
Garfield's successor, Holland, confirmed in October that he will reprise the role of Spidey in a fourth film that begins shooting in the summer.
