Alex Rodriguez Reveals What Advice He Needs From Travis and Jason Kelce (Exclusive)
Alex Rodriguez thinks he could learn a thing or two from Travis Kelce and Jason Kelce.
The former MLB star, 49, opened up about the advice he would give the brothers — as well as the advice he'd ask for — as they take on the next chapter of their lives while chatting exclusively with Parade for his partnership with Lysol.
Jason, 37, retired from the Philadelphia Eagles in 2024 after 13 years with the franchise. Meanwhile, Travis, 35, is set to play the 2025-26 season with the Kansas City Chiefs after sparking retirement rumors amid the team's Super Bowl loss in February.
"They have built a wonderful media business. I think Jason [and] his wife [Kylie Kelce] do great work [and make] great content," Rodriguez tells Parade. "[Travis] is a natural. He really is a natural-born leader and a great advocate, and they're both Hall of Fame [worthy] players. They have it all working. I think they don't need any advice from me. I may reverse it and ask them for some advice."
(Jason and Travis host the "New Heights" podcast, while Kylie, 33, hosts the "Not Gonna Lie" podcast. Additionally, Travis hosted Season 1 of Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity and appeared on Grotesquerie, and Jason currently serves as a commentator for ESPN's Monday Night Countdown.)
He continues: "I'm a big fan of both their games. And I'm a big fan of the way they carry themselves. They're literally like the modern-day superstar, almost like our version of what The Rock [Dwayne Johnson] has been for a long time. I think both those guys can even take it to a bigger level."
As for his thoughts on Travis' headline-making romance with girlfriend Taylor Swift, Rodriguez has nothing but praise for the A-list lovers.
"I'm a big fan of both of them. My daughters absolutely adore and love her as a performer and everything she stands for," he explains. "I wish him well, and I'm interested to see how he closes his last few years of his career because she might be the greatest performer of all time, and he may be the greatest titan of all time. So it's fun to watch."
Rodriguez goes on to tell Parade all about why he decided to partner with Lysol for the second year in a row for their new campaign, which focuses on the brand's Laundry Sanitizer product and champions the "tireless work of sports officials and make one part of their job easier — tackling the stink of post-game laundry."
"We're also highlighting umpires and refs, which is always great. I think they get such a bad rap, and they do such a great job," he says. "I mean, bacteria and sweat can lead to seriously stinky clothes, which I can attest to as playing for a long time. So they work hard, they sweat, they stink, and Lysol comes in and does its magic."
When it comes to doing laundry at his home, Rodriguez tells Parade that his girlfriend Jaclyn Cordeiro typically takes the reins; however, the World Series champion will totally use the chore as an excuse to spend quality time with his older daughter, Natasha, who is studying musical theater in college.
"When I visit my daughter in college at the University of Michigan, the first thing she wants to do is take her to the supermarket, and she wants me to do laundry with her," he shares. "So we definitely always use our Lysol."
