‘Alaskan Bush People’ Star Ami Brown Rushed to Hospital
Alaskan Bush People's Ami Brown was rushed to the hospital this week, according to two of her children.
On Wednesday, the Discovery Channel reality star's kids, Bear Brown and SnowBird Brown, revealed that Ami stopped by the emergency room late Tuesday night.
"She was having some trouble breathing before she went to the emergency room," SnowBird shared in the Feb. 12 video, noting that Ami underwent a series of medical tests before it was decided that she needed to be transferred.
"They actually med-evacuated her to the next big, big hospital," SnowBird shared. "She's okay, but she was having issues breathing and it looks like she has pneumonia."
"Basically, her lungs are really bad," SnowBird said before needing a brief pause. "They have put her in anesthesia so her body can rest and just be working as little as possible."
From what SnowBird remembered, the plan was to keep Ami under anesthesia for two days.
That same day, Bear went into more detail about Ami's condition in a separate video uploaded to Instagram, telling fans, "it's not the best news ever" but that it certainly "could be worse."
"Mom started getting worse so they put a breathing tube in and had to knock her out to do it," Bear recalled. "Then they flew her to a larger town with a better hospital and that’s where she is now. They are attempting to wake her up, but apparently you don’t just wake people up immediately, it has to be done in stages or something. Which is normal."
"The whole thing really sucks," Bear added. "It sucks for sure. She was just all over the place, she was hanging out," explaining that life for Ami was pretty normal up until she woke up the following morning with a little chest pain.
Ami tried to go about her day, but when the pain got worse, everyone around her advised her to go get checked out and that's when "they admitted her and stuff," Bear said.
"Thanks for sticking with my family and God bless," Bear concluded.
Ami, 61, was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2017 and at the time she was told she only had a 3 percent chance of survival. Shortly after her medical team discovered the cancer, Ami underwent chemotherapy and radiation and announced she was in remission about a year later. Ami also battled a bad case of pneumonia in March 2024, for which she was also hospitalized.
The comments of both posts immediately became overwhelmed with positive messages from fans, like one who wrote: "Thanks for letting us know about your mom. Her doctors sound top notch. Prayers for her strength and healing ♥️."
"Praying for your precious mom’s healing and recovery," a second shared. "She’s such a sweet, wonderful lady. 🙏🏼."
"Sending healing prayers for Ami & praying for you all!" another added. "God Bless you all! 🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏."
"Ami is strong. She's pulled through so many things, I have faith her strength will get her through this. Even if she doesn't, if it's her time, thank God she has all of family friends and loved ones around. I'm not being negative, just realistic," someone else shared.
"Sending prayers and positivity your way," one more wrote.
