$1k to build home playground: Wackiest Xmas Airtasker jobs

Christmas is right around the corner and it appears Aussies are desperate to get a bit of a helping hand this year.

Airtasker, an app which allows people to connect with others who are willing to carry out small jobs and tasks, has seen a massive jump in people turning to the site this year, with $32m worth of tasks already posted in the lead up to the festive season.

Of those, there are many practical requests but here are some of the wackiest tasks people have posted online.

One family in NSW is willing to pay someone $1,000 to build their kids a home playground on Xmas Eve so their Christmas wishes can come true.

Another NSW parent is offering $200 for someone to put up their Christmas lights on a two-storey house, while a NSW man is willing to pay someone $200 if they’ll drive him home from his Christmas party.

Some other random requests is one from a Queenslander offering $50 for a rhyming Christmas poem and a Tassie woman who will pay $150 to someone who can paint a picture of her mum’s favourite pet.

Melbourne Airtasker Grant, who writes in his description he’d known as “The Trampoline Whisperer”, is raking it in this year, claiming to be earning $10,000 per month in the lead up to Christmas by helping time-poor people assemble trampolines.

Airtasker CEO Tim Fung said every year they see a huge spike in tasks being posted to the site in November and December as people prepare themselves for Christmas.

“After the year that’s been, many of us are looking for ways to make this Christmas extra special and we’ve already seen Aussies looking to Airtasker for support. This includes everything from creating unique personalised gifts, taking their decorations to the next level and even assembling their children’s presents on Christmas Eve ready for the big surprise on Christmas morning,” he said.
