Air fryer chicken kebabs are sending TikTok wild: 'I'm salivating'
Don't miss this latest air fryer trend.
Air fryer fans everywhere have been raving about these air-fried chicken doner kebabs that have people "literally salivating". The recipe was first shared by self taught London-based cook Meliz Berg, who recreates dishes from her childhood inspired by her Turkish background.
However instead of cooking her traditional Tavuk Döner - or chicken doner kebab - in the oven, Meliz blew minds with her simple hack for delicious air-fried chicken kebabs in under an hour. Sharing with her 173,000 followers on Instagram, Meliz described the dish as the perfect Friday night meal and admitted it's one of her "most popular" recipes.
Starting with skinless, boneless chicken thighs, Meliz says the first step is to properly marinate them in a spice blend for a minimum of four hours, preferably overnight. She then takes the chicken and adds it to some skewers that have been soaking in water, creating a mini kebab rotisserie.
"Try to leave a little bit of space in between each chicken thigh so that they cook evenly in the air fryer," Meliz says. Next, she simply pops the skewers into the air fryer at 180 degrees for 45 to 50 minutes, remembering to turn halfway through.

Finally, it's time to make condiments and a side of hot chips while the chicken is cooking. What comes out of the air fryer just 40m later is deliciously juicy chicken, crisp on the outside and caramelised to perfection.
Meliz then shows how she plated the oven cooked version of meal in her book Meliz’s Kitchen, before finally rolling up her flatbread and taking a bite. The recipe proved an instant hit too, with fans and food lovers alike all saying they can’t wait to try it.
"Omg this is the coolest use of an air fryer I've seen!" One person shared. "Made this in our air fryer and it was literally sooo good!" another chimed in. "Holy heck this looks sensational!" responded a third.
"I've made this recipe a few times now and it's one of my family's favourites," revealed someone else. "This is such a great recipe," another echoed. "Have made for friends and family and it's always a huge hit."
