Adele 'f***ing disappointed' by 'brutal' body talk: 'Hurt my feelings'
Adele has catapulted back onto the scene with a stunning cover shoot and interview for Vogue magazine, where she opened up about everything from the breakdown of her marriage to her 45kg weight loss.
The 33-year-old, who announced earlier this week that her new single will drop on October 15th, has made history as the first celebrity to cover both US and British Vogue at the same time.
Looking stunning in a series of photos posted to Vogue's Instagram page, the Rolling In The Deep singer said she was 'f***ing disappointed' by the conversations being had by other women about her body.
"My body's been objectified my entire career," she said. "It's not just now. I understand why it's a shock. I understand why some women especially were hurt. Visually I represented a lot of women. But I'm still the same person."
She admitted that her feelings were hurt by some of the conversations sparked by her weight loss, telling saying: "The most brutal conversations were being had by other women about my body. I was very f***ing disappointed with that. That hurt my feelings.
"You don't need to be overweight to be body-positive — you can be any shape or size.”
Adele also spoke candidly about the breakdown of her marriage from Simon Konecki in 2019, saying she "wasn't happy".
The gym became her haven where she could get some time to herself, with the star saying: "It was never about losing weight".
"I got quite addicted to it. I work out two or three times a day," she said.
Adele’s transformation
Adele made headlines last year after revealing her 45kg weight loss in her 32nd birthday snap.
The Rolling In The Deep singer's former trainer Pete Geracimo previously insisted she never wanted to get "super skinny" in an Instagram post.
“As Adele's former London-based personal trainer, it's disheartening to read negative commentary and fat-phobic accusations questioning the genuineness of her amazing weight loss,” he wrote.
“In my personal experience of working with her through many highs and lows, she always marched to the beat of her own drum on her own terms. She never undermined her God-given talent in any way.
“She let her incredible voice do the talking, or should I say singing! She never once pretended to be something that she wasn't. What you saw was what you got. And we all LOVED it!
"When Adele and I started our journey together, it was never about getting super skinny. It was about getting her healthy. Especially post pregnancy and post surgery. When 25 dropped and the tour announced, we had to get ready for a 13 month gruelling schedule. In that time, she warmed to training and made better food choices.
“As a result, she lost considerable weight and people took notice. Her body transformation was splashed across every media outlet. The attention it generated was mind-blowing."
Adele embarrassed
A source spoke to Heat magazine and revealed all the attention has been a little overwhelming for Adele since she revealed her incredible weight loss journey on her 32nd birthday in May 2020. v
"Adele is finding the attention very embarrassing. She admits that although she may now look the best she ever has, she still gets incredibly self-conscious about her appearance,” the insider said.
"She sometimes finds it hard to believe that she looks as good as people say she does. She says she’s shocked when she looks in the mirror, but she’s really enjoying buying so many new clothes.
"She is having a blast trying things on – from skimpy dresses to statement red-carpet creations. It’s like she’s makng up for lost time, and she’s spent thousands of dollars!"
