Adam Brody turned lemons into lemonade when he struggled to open a bottle of wine.

During a FYC panel for Nobody Wants This moderated by PEOPLE's Janine Rubenstein, series creator Erin Foster and stars Kristen Bell and Brody opened up about how real-life moments made their way into the hit Netflix rom-com.

"Speaking of improv, in the pilot I have to give Kristen and Adam credit for something," Foster, 42, laughed. "When Adam went to open the bottle of wine, we discovered in real time that Adam does not know how to open a bottle of wine. That was real and these two stayed in character!"

"I was thinking if I was a better actor, I would've learned how to open a bottle of wine before we shot it," Brody, 44, joked before Foster shared she loved how the actors "leaned into" the moment.

"It's so special because it's totally real and they kept the dialogue going. But then when you say like, 'Oh, it's an embarrassing thing about me, I was a sommelier,'" she recalled. "That's all just improv that he came up with because he genuinely couldn't open a bottle of wine."

Bell, 44, added that the scene had to be cut down, and it had been "originally seven and a half minutes of him trying to open the bottle of wine."

The 10-episode series, which began streaming on Sept. 26 and was renewed for a second season in October, follows a budding romance between newly single rabbi Noah (Brody) and sex podcaster Joanne (Bell) and a slew of naysayers who claim their relationship won't work.

The show's concept was born in 2019 when Foster, who is the daughter of Grammy-winning producer David Foster, was in the midst of converting to Judaism after meeting her now-husband Simon Tikhman. The couple first met at a Los Angeles gym in 2018 and got engaged the following year.

Brody and Bell's chemistry on the show has been undeniable — even the Veronica Mars alum's husband, Dax Shepard, has previously joked that their sparks were "not as good as her and Brody."

"My friend ... we watched that scene together, the kissing scene, which I'd argue is the very best kissing scene ever, ever put on film," Shepard said of the smooching during the New Yorker Festival in October. "And my best friend, Aaron, from childhood, he goes, 'Does she ever kiss you like that?' No, I didn't even know she could kiss like that."

Season 1 of Nobody Wants This is now streaming on Netflix.
