Yahoo Lifestyle After Acknowledging That She Has “The Resources To Have Nannies,” Kim Kardashian Insisted That She’s Still “Basically Raising Four Kids” By Herself
Last month, People magazine reported that Kim Kardashian is “pretty much a single mom” following her 2021 split from Kanye West, with sources claiming that the rapper is “sadly not around very much” to parent their four children.
For reference, Kim and Kanye got married in 2014, and together share 11-year-old North, 8-year-old Saint, 6-year-old Chicago, and 5-year-old Psalm.
At the time, an insider said of Kim: “Although she has help, it’s still a lot of work for her to balance and coordinate everything. Kim’s life is around her kids’ schedules. When they are in school, she works. When they are off, she’s very much focused on being a mom.”
And now, Kim has opened up about how hard it is to raise her children “alone,” adding that she doesn’t often speak about it because she knows that she will be called out for her privileges, such as having nannies.
The star made the comments during an appearance on her close friend Zoe Winkler’s podcast, What in the Winkler?!, with Kim beginning by telling Zoe: “You and I have mostly connected on parenting and judgment, and feeling like sometimes you’re in this alone.”
“Even though we have great support systems and we have people around us, but sometimes, in the middle of the night when they’re [the kids] all sleeping in your bed, kicking and crying and waking up, like, it’s….” Kim trailed off.
“It’s not something I talk about a lot because I feel like there is always a lot of judgment,” she went on. “People always will jump on the: ‘Oh, but you have the resources to have nannies and to have help.’ I just think that no matter what kind of help I have, I’m basically raising four kids by myself here.”
Kim then gave an example, saying: “I mean, even carpool this morning, I had five kids that I had to take — two came over — and everyone leaves and you want to leave at different times, and want different stuff.”
“I feel like I’m a pitstop of a racer driver,” she added. “When it’s like: ‘Brush your teeth, brush your teeth, brush your teeth, brush your teeth, OK, get dressed, get dressed, do your hair!’”
Zoe praised Kim for making sure that she takes her kids to school each day, with Kim admitting: “That’s what’s really important to me. Taking them to school, and driving them to school every single day — it’s what I have to do no matter what my work schedule is.”
“It’s really important to me,” she reiterated. “That’s just, like, my bonding time. That’s when I can get them up, get ready, but it’s madness.”
Kim and Kanye’s divorce was settled in 2022, and at the time, it was reported that Kanye had been ordered to pay Kim $200,000 per month in child support. The two formally share joint custody of the four children, and expenses for their security and school are also supposed to be split evenly.
