98-year-old grandad goes viral after millennial makeover and photoshoot
With the unanticipated comeback of cardigans, floral headscarves and corduroy co-ords for AW18 – we’re certainly seeking inspiration from our elders this season.
But what happens when grandparents take sartorial cues from the younger generation?
Photographer Aman Kumar has gone viral after giving his own grandad – who he affectionately refers to as daddu – a millennial makeover.
Though it’s hardly surprising, as the 98-year-old is far cooler than we’ll ever be no matter how long it takes for us to curate the perfect #OOTD.
Kumar gave his grandpa a brand new wardrobe brimming with sharp fedoras, braces and brogues (worn sans socks of course).
Throw in a series of Gen Z-inspired backdrops ranging from independent coffee shops to gram-worthy doorways and you have Instagram cat-nip.
Kumar shared the images via his professional Facebook page alongside the caption: “What is it like to see your grandfather in a completely new millennial Avtaar?”
“My #DadduCool is here again in his forever refreshing fashion sense and equally enthusiastic inner strength at the age of 98. Yes! 98, you heard it right!” he continued.
“There is still a kid residing in him and that is the most amazing part of his personality.
“I have often seen him sharing his notorious stories with me but then shooting him on distinctive concepts has always brought me a complete new dose of amusement and maturity together.”
According to Kumar, his grandfather loves experimenting with clothes and in one image, he goes so far as to demonstrate how to sport athleisure in your nineties decked in head-to-toe Adidas.
Another of our favourite images has to be a street style-worthy snap of him wearing a number-emblazoned jumper, faded jeans and ‘dad’ (or should we say ‘grandad’) trainers.
While his penchant for tinted sunnies is surely one to rival supermodel Bella Hadid’s collection…
So next time you’re mindlessly scrolling through your feed on the hunt for wardrobe inspiration, make sure to check out Daddu’s latest lewks.
