9-1-1: Lone Star Series Finale: The 126 Braces for Impact as an Asteroid Rips Through Austin (Exclusive Sneak Peek)

With its central storyline about a city on the brink of a natural disaster, underscored by the personal threat of deportation for a member of the 126, it could be argued that tonight’s 9-1-1: Lone Star’s series finale (Fox, 8/7c) is its timeliest episode yet. But showrunner Rashad Raisani swears that’s a total coincidence.

“I’ve actually had people come up to me and be like, ‘Dude, come on, you’re just pandering,’ and I tell them, ‘We wrote this seven months ago.’ It’s not something we did yesterday. It’s not some sort of knee-jerk reaction [to current events],” Raisani tells TVLine. “We’re never trying to be activists. We’re just trying to tell human stories about acceptance and love and peace. Maybe the reason it ended up resonating is because there are a lot of people going through the experiences that these characters are going through.”

As Natacha Karam (Marjan) previously teased in a conversation with TVLine: “Don’t get too comfortable. Every time you think it’s over, it’s not, so keep those tissues next to you. It’s a wild journey. You’ll be on the edge of your seat. … There’s a line in the last episode where Judd says, ‘I love you all more than I love my own brothers,’ and that line gets me every time.”
