Yahoo Lifestyle The 2025 Met Gala Theme And Co-Chairs Have Been Announced, And It's Making History
The first Monday in May is a long time away — but that's not stopping Vogue from revealing the plan for the 2025 Met Gala.
Now, you may or may not know that every year's Met Gala theme is specifically tied to the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute's Spring exhibition.
The Spring 2025 exhibition — and, by extension, the overarching theme of the 2025 Met Gala — is Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.
The exhibit is inspired by Barnard Professor of Africana Studies Monica L. Miller's 2009 book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity. According to Vogue, the museum will highlight "garments, paintings, photographs, and more — all exploring the indelible style of Black men in the context of dandyism, from the 18th-century through present day." As Marie Claire points out, it's the first-ever exhibit to highlight dandyism and the influence on style that Black men have held.
As for the Met Gala chairs: Of course, you've got Vogue head honcho Anna Wintour...

Rapper (and longtime fashion fan) A$AP Rocky...
And all-around music mogul Pharrell Williams.
But wait — that's not all! LeBron James will also serve as the 2025 Met Gala's honorary chair.
The event will also serve as LeBron's Met Gala debut — so, let's see if he makes a "slam dunk" with his sartorial choices, ha ha ha.
