15 Trends From The 2020s That People Already Want To Remain In Style Through The Decades

Trends come, trends go, and fashion cycles around again. And sure, many current trends — broccoli haircuts, for example, or the return of JNCO jeans — are unforgivable. But some trends need to stick around forever. Recently, I decided to ask our very own BuzzFeed Community to tell me the 2020s trends they actually love that need to stay in fashion forever; so, here are their answers!

2."As a tall girl, midi and maxi dresses. Growing up, skirts and dresses were all short. While I don’t mind (and do wear) shorter lengths, as a professional I need options that don’t make me feel super exposed."

3."[I love] the less-is-more approach to makeup. Think back to 2016 makeup trends and just how elaborate they were."

"I feel like you were shunned if you didn't have an absolute mask of full coverage foundation with an extreme contour. I'm not saying it looked bad, it was just a lot. Now I feel like more people are okay with not layering on tons and tons to create elaborate looks. Simple makeup is okay!"

4."Cowboy boots! As a southern girlie who has lived in New York for eight years, I've loved rocking these with a pair of denim shorts in the summer now that they're back in fashion. I'm sure they'll be "out" of style again soon, but they're one of those things that always comes back in. :)"

"It looks so pretty and (depending on just how professional you want it to look, doesn't have to take that long. I hope it sticks around for a long time."

"I find the focus on 'old money' to be a bit elitist, but I do like that it prioritizes sustainability. These grandma/grandpa trends, don't quite have that classism but do have the timeless looks. Plus, they're so relaxed."
