People Are Sharing Their Favorite Mostly Forgotten TV Shows, And It Unlocked Memories Deep Within My Brain
Technology has kept us consuming media at unfathomably fast paces, which often means that certain pieces of entertainment, whether music, movies, or TV shows, end up forgotten.
However, there are some gems that we tend to remember, even if they aren't widely discussed or popular.
Recently, I asked the BuzzFeed Community to share the mostly forgotten television gems that live in their heads rent-free. Below, I've rounded up 19 choices that are worth revisiting or checking out in general, especially if you're looking to breeze through a series or two during the holidays.
1."Dinosaurs."
"Baby Sinclair screeching 'Not the mama!' at his dad will never not send me into fits of laughter. The show also tackled a lot of socio-political issues that made it quite progressive for being an early '90s show and one targeted towards families. I was sad when it got canceled because apparently, it was too expensive to make."
2."Don't Trust the B**** In Apt 23."
"2 seasons in 2012-2013 about a naive young girl who gets an apartment in NYC with a tough roommate. The best part of the show is James Van Der Beek who plays an exaggerated version of himself that is the roommate's best friend. The show was funny and fun to watch. I wish more people would have been into it so we could have gotten more seasons."
3."Life with Derek."
"I recently watched one episode while at an Airbnb in Ontario, Canada. It's funny how growing up, I didn't realize this show was very Canadian. Also, Casey always made Derek out to be the 'bad guy', but she was pretty insufferable."
4."Great News (Tina Fey, Nicole Richie)."
5."Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip."
6."Stressed Eric!"
"It was an animated sitcom that ran on the BBC years ago. The show revolves around Eric Feeble, a middle-class man who is always stressed because of his family, work, co-workers, etc. It was pretty dark in places but so funny."
7."O'Grady!!"
"This cartoon about four high school kids and the weirdness that always happens in their town was awesome! No one ever remembers it or even knew about it, and it was so good! Wanted to show it to my kids, and it's not even on any streaming networks, only crappy quality YouTube videos. It's too bad. Also, The River. There was so much hype leading up to it on ABC. My husband and I were intrigued, and honestly, it did live up to the hype. Unfortunately, Season 1 was left on a cliffhanger, and it wasn't renewed for a second season... we'll never know if they got out of there, wah wah."
8."The Oblongs! Only ONE SEASON?!"
9."Trial & Error was hilarious and so underrated. It got canceled after 2 seasons, though :(."
10."Life In Pieces."
11."Cougar Town with Courtney Cox."
"I make so many references to that show. Nobody else gets them because I’m the only person I know who’s seen it."
12."Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends."
13."Code Black. I miss it so much."
14."Yes Dear."
"It was a Gregory Thomas Garcia show (My Name is Earl, Raising Hope, Sprung) that followed Kim and Greg, an uptight, wealthy family in California who must navigate allowing Kim's sister Christine and her husband Jimmy (who are more blue-collar and broke) plus their kids to live in their guest house. It was super funny, and my entire family (kids and adults) loved watching it. It also had great guest stars such as Steve Burns, Rascal Flatts, Jerry Van Dyke, Vicki Lawrence, Tim Conway, Phil Lewis, Billy Gardell, and more. They used to show reruns all the time, but then they just stopped. And the show was never released to VHS/DVD and no streaming service has picked it up ever. It's sad because, truly, my family loved it, and I'm so curious why it's been seemingly erased from existence."

15."The Orville."
"Started as a parody of Star Trek: TNG but quickly established its own identity and style as a more down-to-earth (pardon the pun), less preachy vision of space exploration. Maintained its quirky humor and interesting characters, and the short seasons meant each season was all killer, no filler. Deserves a fourth season if Seth MacFarlane can be convinced to do it."

16."Day Break (2006)."
"A time loop cop drama starring Taye Diggs and Moon Bloodgood. Each episode was riveting, and you were always unsure if Hopper would get out of the loop, especially knowing it was canceled too soon."
–Anonymous, Los Angeles
17."Pushing Daisies."
"It was such a great premise and a cute cast. Lee Pace and Anna Friel had great chemistry and Kristin Chenoweth (who I normally can’t stand) cheesing it up added so much to the episodes. Just watch the first two episodes and tell me you don’t want more!"

18."I loved Parker Lewis Can't Lose, mainly for 'SYNCHRONIZE SWATCHES!' when you are planning something with your friends, and 'HOT CHEESE! HOT CHEESE' whisper yell when you bite into a fresh pizza haha. I don't even know if that show aged well or not, but I loved it."
19.And finally, "Halt & Catch Fire."
"It's flawless. Perfect acting, genuine character development, bitchin' music, knew when to quit. And no one I know has ever seen it. It's offensively underrated. I watched it years ago and think about it a weird amount."
