19 Friendsgiving Ideas For People Who Want To Celebrate But Are Too Lazy To Cook A Whole Meal
Thanksgiving is almost here, but first comes Friendsgiving — just another fun excuse to gather with your chosen family. I recently asked the BuzzFeed Community to share their best Friendsgiving ideas when you don't want to cook a whole meal. Here are their tips, along with some of my own:
Note: Some submissions are from this Reddit thread.
1.To start, plan a Thanksgiving-themed movie marathon with all the snack bar staples.
2."We threw a 'board party,' anything went as long as it was served on a board."
3.Skip a night at the bars and have a DIY cocktail (or mocktail!) night.
4."Soup! Everyone brings a crockpot of soup. Host supplies bowls, napkins, spoons, and bread."
5.Give in to your sweet tooth and have everyone bring their favorite dessert.
6."We are hosting a 'Dipsgiving.' Everyone brings a hot or cold dip to share!"
7.Get outside and go on a group hike to soak up the fall foliage.
8.Ditch the stress of cooking and make a reservation at a restaurant you all love.
9.Show off your vocal talents with a karaoke competition.
10.Create a hot chocolate bar with all the sweet fixings.
11.Bust out the board games to see who wins the night.
12.Plan an 'appetizers only' night where everyone brings their favorite starter dish.
13."My slightly nerdy, off-kilter friend group gets together to play a Dungeons & Dragons one-shot. We take turns every year playing Dungeon Master, and it usually goes off the rails early and lasts well into the night or early morning. It's the only time we can all play together simultaneously, so it's awesome. We get a lot of eye rolls, but who cares, it's our tradition going back well over 20 years. We just all bring potluck dishes and have fun."
14."We've had fun with a make-your-own taco bar."
15.Host a paint night so everyone can get crafty and creative.
16.Get the holiday baking going and decorate cookies together then eat them after!
17.Plan a scavenger hunt around the house.
18.Bring Clue vibes to Friendsgiving with a "whodunnit" murder mystery party.
19.Finally, have a traditional Friendsgiving potluck so no single person has to do ALL of the cooking.
