My Fitness: Kate Bell

You’ve been doing yoga for 20 years. That’s amazing! Why such a passion?
Because life doesn’t come with a guidebook, we have to find our own way. Yoga guides me to make the most of my life. Along the way it makes me feel good, relaxes me, keeps me fit and teaching it gives my life meaning. And frankly, sheer vanity!

Do you do any other activities besides yoga?
I love being in the water, riding my pushbike, dancing in the living room or catching a class at Sydney Dance Company.

What do you fuel your body with?
I like how you put that. My relationship towards food is like that. Food is fuel plus a few yummy things now and again. I eat organic where possible, drink water constantly, have a soy mocha a day, I do goat’s milk and stay away from wheat.

Has your body image changed since you were a teenager?
Yes, I went from having never looked at myself with judging eyes to modelling, where I felt too big everywhere. I’ve mellowed towards my physical shape to a place where I’m so grateful for being healthy and strong.
