Megan Gale: Modelling Could Be Very Lonely

In the romantic drama I Love You Too, model turned actress Megan Gale plays a supermodel who is desperate to be accepted for who she is, not what she looks like.

Perth-raised Gale - who was became famous in Italy prior to hitting the big time in her own country - could relate. "It's not just parties and fun and this glamorous existence, it's actually quite isolating and sad," says Gale, 34. "I definitely found that through a large part of my career, especially when I was living in Italy and going over there, that is what it was like a lot of the time."

Gale — who became a household name in Italy after starring in a Vodafone commercial there - admits it was difficult, "Going to a country where you don't know anyone but knows you because you're famous there and you can't go out and just go and be anonymous, you've got paparazzi or you've got your minders, who aren't your friends, it's really hard and you just go, 'Stuff it. I'll stay in the hotel room' and that's not fun."

Gale's challenging times meant she had no problem relating to her character. "It was actually quite useful because in one scene I had to cry and I really tried to concentrate and use those moments in my life and cast my mind back to what it felt like to be that isolated and without having anyone to connect with and feeling that loneliness," says Gale, who dates radio star Andy Lee, 28.

Now that the Australian public are familiar with her personality the star is known for her otherworldly looks AND down-to-earth attitude. "There is a preconceived idea about models - that they have this perfect existence, this glamorous lifestyle and everything comes to them so easy - and I've always tried to dispel that myth," says Gale.
