Seal admitted it was a “mistake” to send The Voice hopeful Lauren Dawes home in battle rounds, but that didn’t stop superstar coach Seal from accompanying his former steed to a photo exhibition in Sydney on June 1.

“Took Seal to a Photo Exhibition on the weekend and look where we end up!!” tweeted Dawes on June 3, after a photo of them together and smiling at the opening of David Burnett’s The Presidents: From JFK to Obama, part of the Vivid Festival, appeared in Fairfax newspapers.

Onlookers said the pair looked at ease in one another’s company and later shared a hug as they left in separate taxis. A source close to 29-year-old Dawes confirms that "they are just friends.”

Dawes, from Sydney's Northern Beaches, first caught Seal’s attention with her Blind audition performance of Bob Marley’s “Is This Love” in March. A former model, who performs regularly as part of a jazz and soul duo in local pubs and clubs, has said her albinism “has really worked in my favour in the entertainment industry because I have that edge that a lot of people haven’t seen before.”

Her reality TV journey came to an end on April 29 when Seal sent her home in place of sultry team mate Jac Stone, after pitting the songbirds against each other in a Battle round.

Despite their strong renditions of “You Don’t Know Me,” Seal, 50, who split from wife Heidi Klum in January 2012, admitted he was unsure who to send home: “I make a mistake each year and my big mistake this year is putting the two of you together,” he said, before ultimately cutting Dawes loose.
