Kris Humphries Blindsided by Divorce

Kris Humphries and Kim Kardashian on Sept. 20

Kris Humphries is reportedly devastated his marriage to Kim Kardashian is over, telling TMZ.com he is willing to fight to make their relationship work. “I’m committed to this marriage and everything this covenant represents,” the website quoted the New York Nets basketballer as saying in the wake of Kardashians’s Oct. 31 filing in Los Angeles Superior Court, which cited “irreconcilable differences.”

The shock split comes amidst weeks of speculation that trouble was brewing in the marriage, with the reality star revealing life as newlyweds, living in New York where she was filming season two of Kourtney and Kim Take New York, was “not ideal”.

In a statement to E!, which captured the couple’s lavish nuptials in a 4 hour wedding special which is still airing in some regions, "I hope everyone understands this was not an easy decision," said Kardashian, 31. "I had hoped this marriage was forever, but sometimes things don't work out as planned. We remain friends and wish each other the best."

Humphries hopes they can stay as more than friends, "I love my wife and am devastated to learn she filed for divorce,” he added to TMZ.com. “I'm willing to do whatever it takes to make it work."
