See Kristen Bell Dress Up as a Politically Active Mary Poppins for Funny or Die Parody

Mary Poppins Quits with Kristen Bell from Funny Or Die

Apparently, a spoonful of sugar helps the message go down.

That's what Kristen Bell and Funny or Die are hoping at least, with their new Mary Poppins parody about the minimum wage.

In the spoof, the Frozen star dresses up as Julie Andrews to sing a little ditty in support of raising the federal minimum wage.

"In every job that must be done, you must be paid in more than fun," Bell says.

At the current level of $7.25, many domestic workers like Poppins are living below the poverty line, but as Bell argues through the power of song, "just a $3 increase can make a living wage."

The parody follows the Fallon Theory of Virality to the letter - one normal thing (Kristen Bell), one thing everybody loves (Mary Poppins) and one random thing (raising the minimum wage) - and Bell's performance is so spot-on that we don't think you'll mind that there aren't a whole lot of jokes.
