Geraldine Georgeou
Geraldine Georgeou is an accredited practising dietitian and director of Designer Diets.
Q. What motivates you most in your work?
Being a dietitian is like giving people a manual for driving their car. Empowering people with the right fuel for their body is exciting—sometimes the simplest advice can change a person's life. Designing diets that fit a patient's physical and medical needs in a practical and livable format is my priority.
Seeing my patients feeling good and looking good is one major outcome I look forward to daily.
2. What does being healthy mean to you?
Looking and feeling good defines healthy for me. Being able to wake up with the energy to face the day, and having a good laugh and being happy, is very important to me.
3. What one thing would you like to have more of in your day?
Extra time! I am so focused on my work that I'd love to spend an hour a day walking on the beach or in the park getting that extra vitamin D (with slip, slop, slap).
Q. What is your wellbeing wish for Australian women 40+?
Women need to be aware of changes to their body that occur after the age of 40 and be empowered with the most up-to-date information to deal with these changes. Rather than being fat and 40 they should seek advice from health professionals who can help with problems such as increasing midriff weight and adult-onset acne.
Don't think it's too late! Let's face it—40 is now the new 30!
5. What is it that excites you about being a part of the Prevention team?
Prevention magazine is wonderful. It provides up-to-date information on health and nutrition, but also provides a platform that enables women to focus on their current health needs. This magazine embraces real woman in their 40s in the most positive and practical way to promote health and wellbeing today and tomorrow.
