A father from Ohio had one simple request after his daughter, Sophia, died from complications from a liver tumor at just six weeks old. 'I want to see what my daughter would have looked like without tubes', Nathen Steffel, a father-of-two, appealed on Reddit. "My daughter recently passed away after a long battle in the children's hospital,' he wrote, 'since she was in the hospital her whole life, we never were able to get a photo without all her tubes. Can someone remove the tubes from this photo?’

Mr Steffel submitted his plea on Reddit last Thursday and received an overwhelming response from commenters, who submitted retouched photos, paintings and sketches of Sophia. After she was born, Sophia was moved to Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, and was on a waiting list for a liver when she passed away July 10.

'I was overwhelmed with the response I got,' he said, commenting on the Reddit feed. 'This is really amazing. Everyone you have made my day. All I wanted was a nice picture. What I received was a lot of love and support from a bunch of strangers.'
