The Two and a Half Men star appeared in court in Aspen, Colorado on August 2nd, where he was sentenced to 30 days in rehab and given a 30-day suspended prison sentence after agreeing a plea bargain deal on charges relating to a domestic incident with wife Brooke Mueller last Christmas Day (25.12.09).

Charlie, the son of veteran actor Martin Sheen, was also sentenced to three months probation and must complete 36 hours of domestic violence counselling.

In a statement after sentencing, the 44-year-old actor said: 'I'm very grateful to the court and to the people of Pitkin County. I look forward to complying with the court's decision, getting on with my life and putting this behind me.'

The actor’s lawyer Yale Galanter was pleased with the court’s decision, saying: 'Charlie got a great sentence, and I am privileged to have been able to do this for him.'

Charlie is due to return to filming Two and a Half Men immediately and the lawyer says his client is looking forward to the future with Brooke and their 16-month-old twin sons Bob and Max.

Yale said: 'I am not a fortune teller so I can't be sure what will happen between them. But Charlie goes back to work tomorrow. He wants to move on with his life in a positive way.'

However according to FOXNews.com, both Charlie and Brooke were only waiting for the case to be over before filing for divorce. The pair allegedly didn't want to give prosecutors any more ammunition than they already had.

As well as sons Bob and Max, Charlie also has daughters Cassandra (26), Sam (6), and Lola (5) from previous relationships.
