Will a head gear protect me from concussion?

Sports Doc - Dr John Orchard

This is a fair question and, sadly, one that current science can’t answer with great certainty. I would say your risk of long-term damage is probably quite low (with a history of only one mild concussion, which has presumably resolved).

However, the potential consequences of long-term brain injury (even if it is quite unlikely) are obviously very serious. Protective headgear probably doesn’t give you absolute protection. You need to make a personal decision based on a low but serious risk and how much enjoyment you get out of the game.
