Hillary Clinton Is Officially Running For President

It’s official: Hillary Clinton is running for president. Clinton confirmed what has long been expected (and indeed, highly anticipated) yesterday with a video shared on her website HillaryClinton.com, and various social media channels including Facebook, Twitter and Youtube.

The video, which features a roster of everyday Americans sharing their big news in 2015 – wedding plans, preparing for the arrival of a baby, impending retirements and big overseas journeys – also starred Clinton herself. “I’m getting ready to do something too,” Clinton said. “I’m running for President.”

The short clip, running at about two minutes long, also gave a sneak peek behind the key message Clinton will be rallying behind in her campaign. Families and women were the focus: the video showed a diverse range of women and families, from college-age job seekers to lesbian couples.

“Everyday Americans need a champion, and I want to be that champion.”
