Germaine Greer has launched an attack on the Royal family, claiming they are exploiting the Duchess of Cambridge. The controversial Australian feminist - Greer penned the seminal text The Female Eunuch in 1970 - spoke to Newsweek in the UK about the Royal Family's manipulation of Kate.

"Kate is a great deal more intelligent than the rest of the royals. She has been put in charge of William," Greer told Newsweek. "She has a b*****d of a job."

Greer added that "the girl is too thin. Meanwhile, she is vomiting her guts up and shouldn't have been made to go through all this [pregnancy] again so soon. It's not so much that she has to be a womb, but she has to be a mother. I would hope after this one she says, 'That's it. No more.'"

Greer said that the Royal Family is to blame for Kate's lack of agency. "Kate is not allowed to have an interest in modern culture - even in art... She is made to appear absolutely anodyne. She cannot do or say anything spontaneous.... Spontaneity will get her in trouble."

Kate has been relieved from her royal duties for the past three weeks due to intense morning sickness. She is thought to return to work in October.
