Record Numbers Expected To View Kate Middleton's Wedding Dress

Kate Middleton's iconic Alexander McQueen wedding dress is set to go on display in London tomorrow, with Buckingham Palace bracing for an influx of visitors.

Middleton's gown will be the star attraction at the British royal residence, where it will sit alongside her shoes, tiara, jewellery and wedding cake from the day.

"The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted to give members of the public the opportunity to see, close-up, the skilled British craftsmanship that went into various elements of the wedding," said Middleton's spokesperson.

According to the Daily Mail, more than half a million people are expected to visit Buckingham Palace over the summer period, breaking the previous highest attendance figure of 420,000 in 1994.

Chancellor George Osborne told Parliament last week that Buckingham Palace would be open for longer than in previous years "as the palace is looking for additional sources of income".

In addition to the wedding memorabilia, visitors will also be privy to an exclusive video in which Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen describes how she made Middleton's dress.

"It has been the experience of a lifetime to work with Catherine Middleton, to create her wedding dress, and I have enjoyed every minute of it," said Burton on the Royal wedding day.

The specially designed Alexander McQueen dress received rave reviews from fashion press all over the world, with Hilary Alexander of the Telegraph UK describing it as "fabulous, fashionable and fairytale - perfectly in tune with Ms Middleton's desire that it should combine tradition and modernity."

The Royal Wedding exhibition is on until October 23.
