Rosemount Australian Fashion Week: Toni Maticevski

Toni Maticevski kicked off the last day of RAFW this morning with a breathtaking show that culminated in a standing ovation.

Maticevski has been missing from RAFW for the last five years, but if audience reaction is anything to go by, his was a welcome return to the Australian catwalk.

This season Maticevski presented his signature decadent, embellished eveningwear alongside shorter dresses made of sand wash silks and pleated chiffon, with texture the key focus of the collection.

Models swanned down the runway against the industrial backdrop in layers of tulle, organza and draping that expressed the ultimate attention to craftsmanship and detail.

Juxtaposed amongst dresses embellished with feathers (including one that looked like it had wings), Maticevski sent a series of wearable separates onto the runway, namely slim-cut cigarette pants and perfectly tailored tops.

Highlights from the collection include a short, hot pink dress that drapes perfectly over the body and nips in at the waist, and a long, high-knecked dress made entirely of organza and tulle.
