Marc Jacobs: “It’s Best For Everyone I Declined Dior”

Marc Jacobs has finally spoken out about his decision to decline the role of creative director at Dior, saying the brand is too “archaic” for him.

Although Jacobs conceded it was a great honour to be considered the position, he told media it was “best for everyone” that he decline the offer.

“I am very happy to be (at Louis Vuitton). There is so much more left to do and building (the brand) into a fashion company is something nobody else can say they really started,” explained Jacobs, who’s set to open a major Louis Vuitton exhibition at the Musée des Arts Decoratifs in Paris next month.

“I love Paris and I never in my wildest dreams as a teenager dreamed I would have a job working for this big luxury company,” said Jacobs. “Now 15 years on, there is this thing at the Musée des Arts Decoratifs at the Louvre - it is really beyond my wildest dreams. It makes me very emotional - in a good way.”

Now that Jacobs has officially turned the Dior job down, it’s rumoured that Raf Simons of Jil Sander may have inked a deal with the brand instead - stay tuned.
