Miranda Kerr is known for her effortless style, and this morning she revealed exactly how she does it.

In town to attend a series of exclusive media events for Swarovski, Kerr made an appearance at the QT Hotel to field questions about her statement style and her role as the brand's newest ambassador.

Dressed impeccably in a Prada dress embellished with crystals, the stunning supermodel seemed perfectly at ease as she spoke about her love for statement jewellery and how she puts her outfits together.

"I love Swarovski jewellery – it's versatile and there's something for every woman," said Kerr. "There are so many beautiful colours and different metals you can match. Jewellery can really make an outfit stand out and help a woman feel confident and at her best."

Kerr shot the new Swarovski campaign in New York with photographer Steven Meisel, who she said perfectly captured the essence and beauty of the brand.

"It was really great, I love working with Steven," Kerr explained. "We shot so many different looks, and there’s something for everybody."

It's this diversity that Swarovski prides itself on, and a feat which creative director Nathalie Colin says is instrumental to the brand's success.

"I never wanted to be surrounded by clones of myself," Colin explained of her hiring strategy. "I wanted to be surrounded by people who could bring me additional views and surround me. You need a diversity of people around you to keep up with modernity. Take Miranda for instance - she has a definite point of view on the jewellery she likes."

Kerr added that she appreciated that Swarovski allowed her a point of view. "I love that you listen and appreciate my input," Kerr said to Colin.

When marie claire asked about her formula for the perfect outfit, Kerr was quick to admit she didn’t exactly have one, preferring to see what the day ahead felt like to her.

"There are always certain looks I like; a blazer or the fit of a jean. There's not too much thought that goes into it, it's more of a feeling. I'm a tactile person so I like mixing different fabrics. It needs to feel good. It depends if I feel like being feminine or being more relaxed and casual.

"But there are no rules really, I like to dress for how I'm feeling at that moment. I always have options in case my mood changes on the day."

Kerr told marie claire last year she didn't want the public to perceive her as stylish 24/7 however.

"I don't want people to have unrealistic expectations and think, "oh that's how she is everyday" because it's not – when I'm not working I just want to be at home."
