Marc Jacobs to Open Australian Store?

It's a local fashionista's dream: a Marc Jacobs boutique in Australia.

Now it seems the fantasy is a little closer to becoming a reality with a recent tweet from Marc Jacobs president Robert Duffy revealing that the brand is indeed considering an antipodean expansion.

"We are talking about doing something in Australia," the larger-than-life financier wrote. "We shall see. I like the idea."

The partnership between Duffy and Jacobs dates back to the early '80s, when the two formed Jacobs Duffy Designs Inc, a company which continues today.

Their relationship has survived financial failures, creative catastrophes and Jacobs's battle with drugs. Through it all, the pair have maintained a connection that has spawned a billion dollar fashion empire behind the Marc Jacobs label, as well as the streetwear-focused diffusion line Marc by Marc Jacobs.

The pair are currently preparing for autumn/winter 2010/2011 shows for both brands which will debut at New York Fashion Week on February 15 and 16. Visit www.marcjacobs.com to watch the collections streaming live.

Duffy is currently being sought for further information.
