A representative for Ian said his "thoughts are with Ryan's family".
Ryan and Ian were on-again, off-again for four years and at one point considered having a child via a surrogate. The pair split in June 2019.
The model was Ian's first official boyfriend after he came out following years of speculation.
During an interview with WHO, Ryan revealed the reason for their split in 2019, saying, "It was more around the busy lifestyles we lead now and the fact it was hard to manage the relationship with the travel schedules we have."
After the pair's split, Ryan also told The Daily Telegraph that the relationship ended on amicable terms.
"It has all been very amicable. We have stayed friends. We have just gone our separate ways."
Ryan's most recent Instagram post was from Sydney's St Vincent's Hospital eight weeks ago when he had Covid-19.
"Covid got me GEWD," he wrote alongside the snap of himself giving the peace sign.
Followers have taken to his account to share their heartbreak, with one user writing, "RIP beautiful soul."
