The Australian Designer Hollywood Can't Get Enough Of

Steven Khalil’s recent Australian runway show brought some drama to the fashion week lineup via a series of detailed evening gowns and a $100,000 wedding dress.

The designer's spectacular couture creations drew audible gasps from his front row crowd at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia.

And it seems we aren't the only ones in love with his spectacular designer. Two of Khalil’s runway gowns - pictured here - are already on their way to Hollywood stylists, with celebrities Jennifer Lopez and Gwen Stefani both requesting similar looks.

"It's incredible that the brand is in demand internationally. Especially the new collection, having just shown at MBFWA," Khalil told Yahoo7 Lifestyle.

The turnaround might seem quick, but this this week’s runway shows highlighted the ‘see now/buy now’ mentality of today’s consumers.

According to Khalil, it’s also important in terms of the Hollywood demand – if a celebrity sees a gown and wants to wear it the week after, brands have to be prepared.

"The industry is so fast-paced now and as a brand, it's important to be flexible with that,” said Khalil, whose team flew the gowns out as soon as they were requested.
