Carrie's coming to the Cup

Get your best stilettos ready because Sex and the City star Sarah Jessica Parker will be strutting trackside at this year's Melbourne Cup. The actress, who plays clothes horse Carrie Bradshaw in the hit show, will be a special guest at Flemmington in November.

Bringing her trademark flair to the Spring Racing carnival, SJP will add a touch of New York glam to Oaks Day as a guest of Crown Casino.

The Crown Casino’s public relations manager Ann Peacock says they are delighted to welcome the fashionista to Melbourne. "Ms Parker is a ubiquitous New York fashion icon and her attendance at the Crown Oaks Day (traditionally Ladies Day) will add to the international cache of the day. It's a perfect match on this most traditional of race days."

Australian designers will be racing to their racks to dress Parker, but it has not been announced what race-stopping ensemble the style icon will wear.

As well as posing trackside, Parker will also be busy promoting her new flick ‘I Don’t Know How She Does It’. The movie which also stars Greg Kinnear, Christina Hendricks from Mad Men and Pierce Brosnan, explores the dilemmas a mother-of-two faces while trying to balance work and family life.

While reps for the star are remaining tight-lipped about her official Australian schedule, we can expect some bold fashion choices at the racetrack and on the red-carpet at the premiere of her movie, released nationally on November 3.
