Three months after filing to end her 72-day marriage to Kris Humphries, Kim Kardashian is still forced to defend rumours that her televised nuptials -- and her union to the NBA star -- was a sham.

During a Monday co-hosting gig with Kelly Ripa on LIVE! With Kelly, the 31-year-old reality star mogul slammed rumours she tied the knot just for fame and fortune.

"Being a hopeless romantic, I wanted to believe in something so badly. If you think I really made all that money that everyone claimed we made on the wedding and that it was for TV...I'm a smart businesswoman, I would have stayed married longer!" Kardashian reasoned to Ripa during the morning show's Host Chat segment. "This was a bad business decision. I really didn't think following my heart would create this much backlash."

Pulling the plug on her marriage so quickly was a necessity for the reality star. "I definitely tried everything I could [to save it], but also heard stories of people who had kids and stayed married for years and it didn't end up working out," she said. "I want babies and that forever love and if I felt in my heart that this wasn't right, why wait years for the same result?"

A LOOK BACK AT KIM'S 2011

Meeting with psychic medium John Edward made Kim admit she'd been thinking about getting a divorce from Kris.

At first recalling fun memories the sisters shared with their dad, Edward went on to impress even septic Kourtney by predicting that one Kardashian sis would soon announce she's pregnant. Indeed, Kourtney, 32, and boyfriend Scott Disick confirmed they were expecting baby No. 2 in November, after this episode was filmed.

But it wasn't until Edward prodded about Kim's first failed marriage - to music producer Damon Thomas - that the siblings really turned into believers.

When Edward asked, speaking as a medium through her late father, if she had learned anything from that divorce, Kim said she did. Later, after the session was over, Kim dissolved into tears and confided in Kourtney that it was Edward's line of divorce questioning that made her realise her 72-day marriage to Humphries had run its course.

"When he was taking about the divorce stuff, that's why I started to cry, because I honestly feel I can't do this anymore with Kris," an emotional Kim -- who slammed her husband on multiple occasions Sunday for being "totally unreasonable" revealed. "I feel like I got into this too fast and I don't want to be married any more."

Despite her second failed marriage, Kim is still a hopeless romantic.

"I just have to rewrite my fairytale," she told Ripa.
