Zendaya Had a Coy Response When Asked About Her Engagement Ring from Tom Holland at the 2025 Golden Globes

PEOPLE confirmed the 'Spider-Man' costars' engagement on Jan. 6

Zendaya gave a playful response when asked about her engagement to Tom Holland.

The evening before PEOPLE confirmed the Spider-Man costars' engagement, the Challengers star was spotted at the 2025 Golden Globes with a diamond ring on her left-hand ring finger and a "T" tattoo, causing speculation about a possible engagement.

Instead of directly addressing the engagement buzz that night on Sunday, Jan. 5, Zendaya — who was nominated for best performance by a female actor in a motion picture musical or comedy — gave a coy response to a reporter.

"As Zendaya exited the ballroom, a recently engaged Times reporter held up her left ring finger and pointed at it. The actor responded by flashing her own bling on her left hand, doing a sort of jazz-fingers motion," according to the Los Angeles Times.

The outlet asked Zendaya, "Are you engaged?" In response, Zendaya remained mum but "kept showing her ring, smiled coyly and shrugged her shoulders mysteriously."

Zendaya's massive diamond ring on that finger was not included in the Bvlgari press release detailing the rest of the glitzy jewelry she wore. The engagement ring appears to be a 5.02ct East-West Cushion Diamond Button Back Ring from the jewelry brand Jessica McCormack. The apparent ring design is listed in the engagement ring section on the brand's website and displays a 5.02ct cushion diamond set on a 18k white and yellow gold band.

A tiny "T" tattoo was also spotted on Zendaya's ribcage peaking out from her custom Louis Vuitton gown. Fans believe that the "T" stands for Tom.

TMZ first announced Zendaya and Holland's engagement on Monday, Jan. 6, citing sources close to the couple. According to the outlet, Holland proposed at one of Zendaya's family homes over the holidays.

A separate source told PEOPLE that "everyone close to them knew an engagement was happening" — just not when. The source said Holland had been keen to propose to Zendaya "for a while."

"He's always been crazy about her. He always knew she was the one. They have something very special," the source said, noting that Holland shared the happy news with friends around New Year's.

As for tying the knot, the couple plans to take their time. "They will just enjoy things for now and won't rush a wedding," the source added. "They are both busy with work projects."
