White Chocolate Mocha has been on the Starbucks menu for years now. They did come out with a Toasted White Chocolate Mocha Frappe a while back, too. I  asked one of the baristas at Starbucks about the difference and he said the latter has a toasted syrup flavor. To be honest, both my son and I couldn't tell. But I did add the fun red dusting sugar on top like they do on the toasted frappe because it gives the beverage a fun, festive look.

How To Make a Starbucks White Chocolate Mocha Frappe

Basically, it's coffee or espresso mixed with some cream or milk and, of course, the wonderful white chocolate sauce. You can make it homemade like I did in the recipe below, or buy a bottle of white chocolate mocha sauce online or in grocery stores where it's sold. Either way, you will come out with a most delicious copycat version of Starbucks' White Chocolate Mocha Frappuccino.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup cold coffee or espresso

  • ¼ cup half and half

  • ¼ cup whole or 2 percent milk

  • ¾ to 1 cup fresh ice

  • ¼ cup white chocolate (using a bar instead of chips works better for this recipe) or 2 oz bottled white chocolate syrup

  • ¼ tsp vanilla extract

  • 2 to 3 tsp powdered sugar

  • 2 to 3 Tbsp aerosol whipped cream

  • ½ tsp red sanding sugar, found with other sprinkles in the grocery store or online

  1. Heat white chocolate in the microwave for 20 seconds. Take out, stir, put back in for another 15 seconds.

  2. Do this until the chocolate is melted. Stir well. It should take a total of three times in the microwave.

For the White Chocolate Syrup

  1. Heat half and half with milk in a microwave-safe measuring cup or bowl for about 45 seconds. Take out and test for a warm mixture. If needed, put it back in for another 25 seconds. The mixture should not be hot. Stir.

  2. Pour melted white chocolate into warm milk. Stir well with a fork or mini whisk.

For the Frappe

  1. Add coffee, vanilla, sugar and ice into blender.

  2. Pour in white chocolate syrup.

  3. Blend on low for a few seconds. Then, blend on medium to high until smooth and creamy.

  4. Pour into a large cup or glass.

  5. Top with whipped cream and sanding sugar.
