Almost every Aussie will remember an iconic interview on the streets of Kings Cross that kickstarted a national catch phrase.

Clare Werbeloff, or ‘chk-chk-boom girl’ as she’s more commonly known, became a household name in an instant, after she regaled news cameras with her ‘eyewitness account’ of a King Cross shooting back in 2009.

Then, just 19 years old, Clare admitted her dramatic account was entirely fabricated after it gained notoriety online.

One of the earliest examples of a viral sensation, Clare enjoyed a glimmer of fame in her spurious interview’s wake, but has since disappeared from the public eye.

Now her former manager has lifted the lid on where the internet icon is today, and it turns out she’s turned her back on the bright lights and is leading a humdrum life as a speech therapist.

Speaking on Mumbrellacast, publicist Max Markson who used to represent the viral star shared the surprising news of where she is now, and it’s not what anyone was expecting to hear.

“I get calls still, "Will Clare do this? Will Clare do that?" I've spoken to her and she doesn't want to do anything,” he told the podcast.

“I think she's doing... care... or speech therapy. She's got a proper job, a proper life,” he said.

The revelation comes almost a decade after Clare was last properly in the public eye.

She made waves stripping down for lad magazine Ralph in 2010, and was spotted out and about in the 2009/10 social scene, including at a launch party for the SIMS 3 - the most 2009 social appearance of all time.

She also appeared in an exclusive A Current Affair interview to explain the story behind her eyebrow-raising lie, which was accused of being racist.

The transcript of her ‘story’ is a familiar one to most Aussies, and included a dramatic retelling of an alleged family dispute.

“There were these two wogs fighting. The fatter wog said to the skinnier wog: 'Oi bro, you slept with my cousin.',” she told the gathered cameras.

And the other one said: 'Nah man, I didn't for sh*t, eh' and the other one goes: 'I will call on my fully sick boys, eh.'

“And then pulled out a gun and went: chk chk boom!"

The iconic exchange is still on Youtube where it has racked up over half a million views.
