Organising Christmas lunch is a complicated endeavour at the best of times, but throw in everyone’s dietary requirements and it’s hard not to be left with a headache.
This year, Woolworths has released a range of festive foods that specifically cater to vegan, plant-based and gluten-free eaters so it’s easy to have something for everyone as part of your spread.
“Christmas is all about bringing together family and friends while sharing quality fresh food,” Woolworths’ Managing Director Guy Brent says, “we’re pleased to offer a variety of plant-based products in our Woolworths Plantitude range and Woolworths Free From bakery line, ensuring no one has to be left out at the Christmas table.”
The range includes lots of delectable desserts and this $15 plant-based Christmas roast that’s made of soy protein with traditional herbs and spices.
A great vegan option to serve alongside or instead of your usual ham and turkey, it feeds four and comes with a cranberry glaze on the side. All you have to do is pop it in the oven for 40 minutes and you’re good to go.
Other meat free roast options include this vegan Veggie Roast which isn’t specifically part of a Christmas range, or this plant-based roast from Coles which is served with a sweet chutney and scored well with Choice’s taste test last year.
When it comes to sweet treats, the Woolies range has all the traditional favourites in vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free versions.
Love Christmas fruit pudding? There’s a vegan option made with Beenleigh Rum from Queensland, or a gluten-free version made with dried fruit soaked for 12 hours in brandy that comes in a one-person or four-person size.
David Jones also has a gluten-free Christmas pudding with no added sugar and Aussie vine fruit in an eight-person and a one-person size.
Chocolate lovers will enjoy this gluten-free chocolate sponge pudding or this vegan hazelnut chocolate mud cake that pair well with dairy-free vanilla and brandy flavoured custards that are also part of the Woolies range.
The wider Christmas range includes even more desserts and sweet treats with a special focus on Australian ingredients with lemon myrtle meringues, Davidson plum pudding and white chocolate and macadamia tarts.
