Woman Refuses to Go to Best Friend's Wedding Because She Doesn't Support the Marriage: 'Don't Feel Comfortable'
"It feels like a huge step backward," the Reddit user wrote
A reddit user is making a difficult choice about a friend's upcoming wedding.
A user posted their story to Reddit's popular AITA forum on Dec. 3, where they explained their decision to skip their best friend's wedding because they can't support the woman marrying her ex.
The bride, "Sarah," was married once before. The marriage lasted seven years before the couple entered a "pretty rough divorce," the user explained.

Recently, Sarah reunited with her ex husband and is now marrying him again.
"I know Sarah’s decision to reconcile is her choice, but I can’t shake off the bad memories of how he treated her," the user wrote. "It feels like a huge step backward, and I just don’t feel comfortable supporting this."
The user set a personal boundary and decided they would not attend the wedding, the post read. "Now she's really hurt," and claimed the user wasn't supporting her. Sarah said their friendship might be on the line, the user wrote.
The general consensus in the comments was that neither the user or the bride were in the wrong.
"Well she's right," one comment read. "Your friendship is on the line, but that doesn't make you an a******."

"She's right. You're not (supporting her). Because you're not comfortable doing so," another comment read. "You are setting a boundary, and friends respect boundaries. If she can't respect your boundary, she's not a friend."
The comment continued, "That said, if it's risking your friendship, I would definitely evaluate your stated boundary closely and make sure it absolutely is how you feel, exactly and unequivocally."

Others asked for more information regarding the couple's divorce that "ended terribly." One comment asked if financial problems or a dishonest custody battle contributed to the user's apprehension of the husband, or if he was "just a pain to be around."
