Mum blasts in-laws for risking family's health over 'Easter crap'

A mum has unleashed on her in-laws for risking the health of the entire family by blatantly ignoring isolation and social distancing rules for the sake of some Easter goodies.

In a Reddit thread titled ‘So angry MIL risked our health for Easter crap’, the woman explained the rules currently in place in her US state are 'shelter in place, wear a mask in public' and that both her three-year-old and husband are considered more vulnerable to COVID-19.

So when she found out her husband had taken the children for a ‘drive’, which resulted in them visiting their grandparents and getting Easter goodies, she was outraged.

“Yesterday (father-in-law) calls to say they have bananas for us,” she wrote in the now-deleted post.

“I'm like, no, f*ck that, that's a stupid reason to drive all the way there. But (husband) is like, I'll take the kids so they can nap in the car and you can have alone time.”

Hubby was to use hand sanitiser when collecting the items and not have contact with anyone, even his parents.

But when they returned home four hours later one of the children spilled the beans saying, “we saw grandma and grandpa! I told Daddy it was against the rules and you would be mad!”

Apparently, the family had spent time sitting together on the verandah, drinking lemonade, and the grandparents had given the children “two giant bags of Easter crap”.

“They had Easter crap ready for the kids! They had 20+ bananas, still green! This was a setup, you idiot!” the angry mum concluded, adding she hadn’t spoken to her husband since and had blocked her mother-in-law on social media.

Coronavirus cases in the US are much higher than than in Australia, with the outbreak having now claimed the lives of at least 20,506 people.

Because of this people were equally outraged the grandparents would so willingly risk their own health and the rest of the family’s wellbeing.

“Mil and (significant other) risked your health. Even the child knew better,” was one comment.

“This would be a dealbreaker for me. HE ENDANGERED YOUR CHILDREN'S LIVES - that's about as bad as it gets,” another slammed the husband.

“This is why it's spreading so much in US, no one is taking it seriously,” another person said, before adding it wasn’t all he husband’s fault. “As for your husband, well he got manipulated. Don't be too hard on him.”
