William's 'lack of effort' with Meghan caused rift with Harry

Following news of Prince Harry and Meghan’s move from Kensington Palace to Frogmore Cottage in Windsor, the rumour mill is in overdrive about their relationship with William and Kate.

Now there are further reports about tension between brothers William, 36, and Harry, 34, which apparently sparked an argument last year.

“Kate and Meghan are very different people and they don’t have a lot in common but they have made an effort to get along,” a source told Vanity Fair. “Any issues are between the brothers.”

Harry and William’s beef

“Harry felt William wasn’t rolling out the red carpet for Meghan and told him so,” they continued.

“They had a bit of a fall out which was only resolved when Charles stepped in and asked William to make an effort.

As a result, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge apparently invited the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to spend Christmas with them last year, which is when we saw them make their public debut as the ‘Fab Four’.

Why everyone’s talking about Windsor

Whispers of drama among the royal faves began at the weekend, when it was confirmed that Harry and Meghan would be moving our of Kensington Palace and away from William and Kate.

The newlyweds, who are expecting their first child next year, were always meant to move out of their two-bedroom cottage on the grounds of the palace, but it was believed they would occupy the much larger apartment directly next door to the Cambridges.

Instead, they’ve decided to move to Frogmore Cottage on the Windsor estate, and that news coincided with claims that Meghan, 37, and her sister-in-law Kate, 36, aren’t getting along.

Meanwhile another report emerged saying that the Duchess of Cambridge was reportedly ‘left in tears’ after Princess Charlotte’s dress fitting for Meghan’s wedding rehearsal, according to The Telegraph.

Harry’s big shift

However, the new report claims that the source of tension isn’t between the sisters-in-law, but between the two brothers.

It suggests that since settling down with Meghan, Harry is keen to branch out on his own, and while leaving Kensington Palace never seemed like a possibility in the past, the Prince is now wanting to move out of his older brother’s shadow.

“The countryside works for him and Meghan because they want to raise their son or daughter away from the limelight,” the source said.

Kensington Palace have not commented on the rumours, but said in a statement that “Windsor is a very special place for Their Royal Highnesses and they are grateful that their official residence will be on the estate”.

Royal biographer Duncan Larcombe, has dismissed the gossip and thinks the move is simply a logistical matter.

“Harry and William are very close, so it won’t be a decision that will have been taken lightly,” he told Yahoo UK.

“What has happened is probably to do with the lack of availability of a larger apartment in Kensington Palace.

“The property in Windsor is the next best thing.”
