All the Wild Ways the South Has Coped With Winter Weather

The historic snow blizzard sweeping across Gulf Coast states has inspired some Southerners to cope with the weather conditions in creative ways.

Heavy snow has blanketed parts of Louisiana, Texas, South Carolina and Florida this week, shattering the region’s previous snowfall records, reported Weather.com.

And considering that the region rarely sees snow, wacky antics ensued and were shared in viral social media clips.

In New Orleans, where there was a record-breaking 10 inches of snow, residents started an impromptu snowball fight on Bourbon Street.

Others chose to use the iconic nightlife strip as their personal ski slope

In Florida, workers tried to salt the roads to prepare for the incoming storm—but their methods ended up being ineffective.

Even Ginger Gaetz, wife of failed attorney general nominee Matt Gaetz, joined in the fun, posting a look at the snow from her window.

With no snow shovels, people in Florida had to get creative. Some areas in the state’s panhandle received over six inches of snow, breaking previous state records.

Kids also managed to have a good time with snow as some used their beach and pool toys to go sledding.
