"Jonathan Bailey Horse Girl": Jonathan Bailey Is Being Praised For Revealing His Horse From "Bridgerton" Is In "Wicked"
While Elphaba might be defying gravity in Wicked, Bridgerton is defying time and space...well sort of.
Wicked will debut in theaters on Nov. 22. In the lead-up to its release, the film has revealed a surprising and subtle connection to the mega-popular Netflix series Bridgerton.
No, that unexpected connection isn't Jonathan Bailey, though the actor does appear in both the film and TV show.
However, the surprise is connected to the actor.
Bailey stars as Anthony in Bridgerton, and his character was one of the focal points of Season 2.
In Wicked, he plays Fiyero, a cocky Shiz University classmate who romances both Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) and Glinda (Ariana Grande).
As the trailers and this poster make clear, Fiyero is a horse rider, and that's where the Bridgerton connection comes in.
The film's TikTok account shared a behind-the-scenes video on Monday that revealed the horse Bailey rides in the movie is the same one he rode in Bridgerton.
"I went around to see [the movie's director] Jon Chu before we started filming, and I said to him, I said, 'I think I know who the horse is,'" Bailey says in the video.
"And he's like, 'What do you mean?' It's Jack," he continued, noting he had "an amazing relationship" with the horse while filming Bridgerton.
"People say, 'Don't work with kids and animals.' But if it's Jack, I'd say take the job," Bailey added in the video. "He's a legend."
Of course, this revelation delighted fans:
"jack and him go way back. like all the way to the 19th century," one joked...
...while another said, "jonathan bailey horse girl."
One advocated for Bailey to be cast in a live-action version of Tangled as fellow horse rider Flynn Rider: "He would make a great Flynn Rider if there ever would be a live action movie."
But the best comment might just have been a nod to logistical prowess. "Saves a lot of time for filming too because it takes time to build a relationship with your horse," someone said.
