Why Samantha Armytage was in tears before her wedding
Sunrise host Samantha Armytage married her millionaire husband Richard Lavender on New Year's Eve in an intimate ceremony in the Southern Highlands, and while it was a very happy day, the presenter found herself feeling a little heartbroken as well.
During a chat with The Kyle and Jackie O Show on KIIS FM, Sam shared how she was left upset before her nuptials after COVID-19 rules meant there were big changes to her day.
A large portion of the couple's extended family were unable to watch the couple wed, with restrictions meaning Sam's sister, who lives in London, was unable to make it for the wedding, while several of Richard's family members were in lockdown on the Northern Beaches of Sydney.
"All of Richard's family were locked down in the [Sydney's] Northern Beaches," she told the hosts. "They tried to get an exemption, but weren't allowed out."
Thankfully, Sam's father Mac and her brother Charlie and his wife were able to attend.

Sam's mother Libby sadly passed away in November following a 15-year battle with autoimmune disease.
It's believed Richard's daughters Sasha and Grace were also two of the eight guests in attendance.
Sam managed to plan her wedding in just three days, but there was one major issue that cropped up the day before.
"I ordered my dress online and it didn't turn up. I had to race to Bondi Junction to David Jones to try re-buy the dress, but it was gone," she explained.
"I was in tears running the length of Westfield Bondi. I looked like a mad woman!"
"I drove back to Bowral in tears to Richard saying, 'I haven't got a dress, we're getting married tomorrow!'"
However, right at the last minute, Sam received a message saying her Carla Zampatti dress had arrived at the post office.
Sam added that she struggled to find a table for ten people on New Year's Eve to celebrate afterwards.
"I was desperately scrambling to find restaurants that would take ten. I rang this winery and we booked a normal table in the restaurant with everyone," she explained.
The couple had other diners coming up to them congratulating them.
Sam added that she hopes she can host another party for her entire family at some point.
The pair began dating in April 2019 and announced their engagement in June 2020.
